The World Record for the most Christmas lights has been broken by an Australian family who decorated their home with a grand total of 502,165 lights.
Yahoo News reported that the Richards family got into the holiday spirit this year by transforming their home into a magical wonderland draped in tens of thousands of lights.
The family topped their decorations from previous years, as Good Morning America reported that in 2011, the Richards family had their house lit with 331,038 flashing, colorful lights.
One of the best parts about their Christmas light display is the fact that it brings families together. Visitors can go see the lights and walk through the experience.
"It took me quite awhile to set it up," the father, David Richards, told Global News Channel. "I started in October. I took a week off in October school holidays, and then have worked every weekend since."
He added that his electricity bill adds up to about $2,300 during the holiday season, but they are assisted with the payments.
"We're very fortunate in that ActewAGL are sponsoring it with a green energy program," he told Global News Channel. "So, it's doing something for nature as well."
It’s truly a magical experience to all who visit the home. Check out the video below!
