A 3-year-old girl in the UK helped put the man who molested her behind bars by bravely testifying against him in court.
According to The Mirror, Thomas Noone was sentenced to three years in prison for sexually assaulting the toddler last year.
Although the little girl cannot be named in the media, authorities say she was actually cross examined via a live video link from a separate room during the trial.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the little girl is one of the youngest people to ever be cross examined in a crown court.
The prosecutor on the case, Ricky Holland, told the court that the child’s mother found out about the sexual abuse when she heard her little girl describing the shocking events to a friend.
As the prosecutor told the court, the mother immediately sat her daughter down and started asking her questions about what had happened with the suspect.
While the mother at first thought the little girl may have just been confused, the toddler remained “emphatic” about what took place.
After the mother called the police, Noone was arrested, and despite denying that the abuse took place, DNA evidence on the girl’s clothing was enough for authorities to file charges against Noone.
“It’s clear that you abused her for your own sexual gratification,” Jude Jeffrey Lewis said to Noone in court. “You continue to deny any responsibility about this conduct. You have shown no remorse for what you did.”
Noone has since been sentenced to three years behind bars.
