As yet another year comes to an end, the holiday season can be the perfect time to take a step back and reflect on our accomplishments over the last year.
That’s why so many families these days use their annual Christmas cards as a way to update family and friends on all the recent changes and achievements in their lives.
Most parents typically choose the best moments of the year to showcase on their cards—birthdays, first days of school, vacations, etc.—but what if we were all a little more honest?
That’s what one hilarious mom was hoping to find out when she sent out her family’s brutally honest Christmas card this year.
According to the Christmas card insert that was shared on the Mommy Needs Vodka's Facebook page, Tom and Lisa Allen have had quite the year with their three children.
The couple starts with an update about their "precocious and super annoying" 3-year old Landon, who “whines all the time and doesn’t go to sleep when he’s told.”
"Most of the artwork he brings home from church nursery is awful," the proud parents continued. "Our pride and joy (and source of our drinking problem)."
Next up is Hunter, the couple’s “energetic yet surprisingly unathletic 9yr old who just got cut from the soccer team that doesn’t even keep score in their games.”
“Spends most of his time on his iPad and said his first swear word this year," his parents bragged. "Super exciting!"
As for the pair’s oldest child, 18-year-old Maddy, she was recently fired from her job at Sephora for telling her boss, "Just because I'm on the schedule doesn't mean I have to show up."
Her parents aren’t too worried though, since Maddy now plans on dropping out of school to pursue her dreams of becoming Insta famous.
"Age 18 ... goes over her data each month on her cell phone," her parents continued. "Was grounded for two weeks this fall after she snuck a guy in her window to 'watch a movie.'"
Meanwhile Tom and Lisa are just surprised they’re still together after 41 long years of marriage.
"Tom still tucks his T-shirt into his jeans and just took money from our retirement account to buy a fishing boat," Lisa shared. "His golf shoes are still currently on the steps after I told him three times to take them upstairs."
This hilarious Christmas card went viral after making its way to Facebook, where parents praised Tom and Lisa for their honesty.
“I feel this is the mom who asked for help with the Christmas cards but everyone blew her off so she decided to take matters into her own hands,” one mom commented.
“I think we deserve to know what’s messed up about Lisa’s life. Also those are some young kids to have for being married 41 years!” another added.
“THIS is real life and I love it. I HATE those braggy letters about the trips to Outer Mongolia with the "beautiful" and perfect children/grandchildren,” one mom wrote.
