The Newest 'Counting On' Cast Member's Troubled Past Has Everyone Talking

Read on to see what cast member’s controversial past is shaking things up on the new season of "Counting On".

The newest season of Counting On premiered Monday night, and it was not without a fair share of drama. Perhaps the most scandalous moment of all was the introduction to this season’s new casts members- the extended Duggar family. This included Joseph Duggar’s wife Kendra Caldwell, and the rest of her family.

People can’t stop buzzing about Kendra’s father, a controversial pastor named Paul Caldwell. Pastor Caldwell preaches at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, and became a topic of conversation when his church printed out flyers regarding the LGBTQ community. The flyers allegedly read: “Does God love homosexuals?” and then went on to respond to the question, saying it was “flawed” because “there are no such things as homosexuals.” These pamphlets were handed out door to door in Pastor Caldwell’s community, and it was very well received.

Many residents were troubled by the church’s agenda and their views on homosexulity, and they didn’t respond positively to the flyers being brought to their home.

“I just don’t think it’s right to push your religious beliefs on people in neighborhoods like this or any neighborhood.” one resident said to a local news station.

It appears that Pastor Caldwell, much like the Duggar family, is not stranger to drama. Another Duggar family member made headlines for his comments about the LGBTQ community as well. Jill Duggar’s husband Derick Dillard posted some harsh words about a fellow TLC star, Jazz Jennings, a transgender teen and LGBTQ activist.

“What an oxymoron… a ‘reality’ show which follows a non-reality.” he wrote on Twitter. “‘Transgender’ is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it’s ordained by God.”

Jazz did not stay silent after viewing Derick’s post, responding: “Every day, I experience cyber-bullying, but I keep sharing my story. Today was no different.”

TLC responded to Derick’s comments as well, stating: “Derick Dillard’s personal statement does not represent the views of TLC.”

It’s clear that both Pastor Caldwell and members of the Duggar family have very view problems with sharing their thoughts on the LGBTQ community and their lifestyle. However, that doesn’t make them immune from the voices of those who disagree with their comments. Needless to say, it appears that there will be no shortage of drama with these new addition to the Counting On cast. We’ll have to stay tuned to see what Pastor Caldwell might do next.
