A man suspected in the disappearance of a young college student in Texas has been arrested on DWI charges.
According to KOSA-TV, authorities attempted to pull over Chris Estrada on Sunday after he reportedly ran a stop sign.
Instead of stopping his car, police allege that Estrada tried to flee the scene before abandoning his white 2016 Ford Mustang.
Estrada was soon tracked down and arrested for driving while intoxicated and evading arrest.
According to KOSA-TV, Estrada is currently a suspect in the mysterious disappearance of Zuzu Verk, a 22-year-old college student from Keller who has been missing from West Texas since last October.
Verk was last heard from by her mother on October 12, 2016, after she went to see a movie with her boyfriend, Robert Fabian, a close friend of Estrada’s.
According to Verk’s mother, family and friends became concerned when she failed to show up to work and an exam the next day.
Earlier this month, Verk’s family reportedly received her acceptance letter to Texas A&M University.
"We know that [investigators] are getting closer and closer and the grand jury is still planning to meet this month," her mother, Lori Verk, said. "We're hoping for indictments, but it's still at this point a wait-and-see kind of game."
As KOSA-TV reports, both Estrada and Fabian are currently considered to be suspects in the case.
In fact, Estrada’s Mustang was seized by police as part of their investigation back in October, but authorities have yet to reveal what they were looking for.
