Colder weather means it’s time to fill everyone’s bellies with warm, comfort food!
Chicken and dumplings is a classic, of course, and it’s always a crowd-pleaser.
Abbie from Lovin' Our Chaos shared her super simple Crock-Pot version of the dish, and it only requires four ingredients!
“I needed a quick, easy, and little-to-no-prep-recipe,” Abbie wrote on her blog post about coming up with this delicious creation.
To make her chicken and dumplings, the only ingredients Abbie used were chicken, one can of cream of mushroom and cream of chicken soup each, and refrigerated biscuits!
The prep is so simple too and super quick!
To start, Abbie put her chicken breasts in the bottom of her slow cooker and poured both cans of condensed soup over the top.
Then, she mixed all three ingredients together and left it to cook for about eight hours.
“This works well for me, since it cooks while everyone is at work and school,” Abbie wrote on her blog post. “After getting home, the chicken is cooked and there is a nice ‘gravy,’ made by the soup.”
After shredding up the chicken, Abbie then opened her can of refrigerated biscuit dough, cut it up into pieces, and dropped it on top of the chicken mixture inside of the slow cooker.
“I open the can and use my kitchen scissors to cut each biscuit into ¼ pieces,” Abbie wrote about the dough.
After tossing those into the mixture, Abbie put the lid back on the Crock-Pot and let it cook once more for about half an hour until the dough on top had puffed up and turned a nice, light, golden brown.
When the biscuits were cooked through, Abbie mixed them in with the gravy and chicken and then spooned it out onto plates to serve.
The result is a delicious chicken dinner you might want to make a double batch of because everyone will love it so much.
