The weather is getting colder, which means it’s time to start baking! There are so many delicious recipes for fall out there to try, but the easier the better.
That’s what makes this super simple pumpkin pie dump cake recipe by Brandie from The Country Cook absolutely perfect!
“Dump cakes are easy to make and full of flavor,” Brandie wrote on her blog post about the recipe. “(...) I thought it was about time to break out an old favorite. Pumpkin pie dump cake. All the flavors and textures of pumpkin pie topped with a sweet and slightly crunchy topping.”
The cake is so simple to throw together, too.
Brandie started by first making the pumpkin filling.
To do so, she combined evaporated milk, pumpkin puree, eggs, sugar, and cinnamon into a large bowl until well combined.
Then, she poured the pumpkin mixture into the bottom of a greased baking dish.
Once that was finished, Brandie grabbed her box of spice cake mix and simply sprinkled the dry mixture over the top of the pumpkin in the baking dish.
After adding the entire box of mix over the top, spreading it out as much as possible, Brandie then poured two sticks of completely melted butter over the top, trying to evenly coat all the dry cake mix.
Finally, the whole dish went into the oven to bake for about an hour.
When it comes out, the result is a perfect pumpkin cake! The cake mix on the top makes a delicious topping, and it’s way easier than attempting to make a pumpkin pie from scratch!
“It might still be just a bit jiggly in the middle when done,” Brandie wrote on her post. “It will continue to set up as it cools. Let it cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing and serving.”
And of course, she didn’t forget the whipped cream when serving! It’s the perfect dish to get you through all your holiday parties.
