When we first heard of the "dump cake" trend made by using a slow cooker, we were seriously doubtful of how good the final product would be. It was only after we went over to a friend's place and tried some of his freshly made "dump cake" that we realized how silly we'd been.
Although this simple Slow Cooker Cherry Dump Cake only calls for 3 ingredients, the end result is "over the top amazing." Even Jen, from the blog Cincy Shopper, had to agree.
Jen, much like us, was doubtful of using her slow cooker to make a "dump cake," but now says, "This Crock-Pot Cherry Dump cake is my first 'dumping' experience and it will definitely not be my last. I have held off for so long because every time I mention making a dump recipe, my hubby expresses his skepticism." Now, this might even be his favorite dessert.
Try this dump cake for yourself.
Melt ½ cup unsalted butter in a bowl. Add 1 box yellow cake mix.
Use a fork to mix the ingredients together until well combined. The batter will be very crumbly.
Grease the slow cooker or spray it with nonstick cooking spray.
On the bottom of the slow cooker, spoon out 2 24-oz. cans of cherry pie filling. Then, sprinkle all the batter mixture on top.
Cover and cook on High for 2 hours or Low for 4 hours.
When finished, plate and serve — we suggest with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
