She Loves Tater Tots, So She Uses Her Slow Cooker To Make A Tater Tot Casserole!

We had no idea you could make casserole dishes in the slow cooker. The fact that this one is covered in tater tots just makes it even better.

We all thought tater tots were a thing of our childhood past, but this Crock Pot Tater Tot Casserole recipe is here to prove us wrong. It uses just 6 simple ingredients — of which, yes, one are tater tots — to make a fun, tasty meal that lets everyone reminisce on their childhood.

Tammilee wrote on her blog Tammilee Tips that the main reason why she developed this recipe was because her sister-in-law was coming to visit, and she absolutely adored tater tots.

She wrote, "John’s sister absolutely loves Tater Tots. When they come to visit from Alabama I have to stock the freezer with Tater Tots so we always have them on hand. I have to say that John had so much fun sending his Sister a picture of this Crock Pot Tater Tot Casserole and letting her know how much he was enjoying it."

Here's how you can make it — and enjoy it — for yourself.

Coat the inside of your Crock Pot with nonstick cooking spray.

Chop 1 small onion.

Then, brown 1 pound ground beef on the stove. Add in the onion and 1 can RoTel. Tammilee used the Mild version, but you can feel free to kick the spices up a notch to suit your taste.

When finished browning, pour the beef and onion mixture into your Crock Pot.

Mix in 1 can Cream of Chicken soup, and then cover the entire surface with neat rows of tater tots. You'll probably need a 16-oz. bag of them to ensure that you can cover everything.

Cover and cook on Low for 2-3 hours.

30 minutes before you're ready to serve your casserole, scatter 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese on top and allow it to melt.
