She Puts Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls Into Her Slow Cooker To Make The Perfect Holiday Breakfast

You really only need to buy Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls to make this recipe, because the other 4 ingredients are all kitchen staples.

If you have kids who are undoubtedly going to wake you up at 5 am on Christmas morning asking to open presents, this Slow Cooker Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread will ensure that you actually enjoy your day. Not only will you – and your entire family – be able to enjoy delicious cinnamon rolls first thing in the morning, but you’ll also breathe a little more easily after only having spent 20 minutes making breakfast for your entire family.

Ever since Dorothy from Crazy for Crust started making this one Christmas, her family has put in a special request for it ever since. “By making the monkey bread in the crockpot, the bread steams as it cooks, keeping it soft and doughy but actually baked all over,” she wrote. “This will feed a lot of people, probably 8-10 unless you’re my family, then 4,” she added.

Here’s how you can make it for your family at home.

Open 2 cans of Grands! Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls. Separate each roll (10 total) and then cut each into 6 pieces.

Pour ¼ cup granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon into a gallon-size Ziploc bag. Toss in the cut cinnamon roll pieces, seal, and shake it up to coat each piece with sugar and cinnamon.

Melt ½ cup of unsalted butter, then add ½ cup brown sugar and mix well.

Cover the inside of a 5-7-quart slow cooker with nonstick spray. Put in half the cinnamon roll pieces at the bottom of the cooker, then pour in about half of the butter-sugar mixture.

Repeat with the other half of the dough pieces and butter-sugar mix.

Cap your slow cooker, then cook on High for about 2 hours. For best results, check at the 1-hour mark, as well as the 1.5-hour mark. You’ll see the edges brown a little, but the center remain gooey and sticky.

When finished, turn the slow cooker off and let rest 5 minutes.

Feel free to add on Pillsbury’s icing onto your monkey bread, either as it sits in the slow cooker, or when you serve it on individual plates.

Dorothy advised that you completely remove the monkey bread from the slow cooker before it cools, otherwise you’ll be strapped with a difficult wash job.

If you’re feeling adventurous, feel free to add ½ cup chopped nuts or chocolate chips among the dough balls before you cook it for extra flavor. If you want a more traditional monkey bread, just use Pillsbury Grands! Biscuits.
