Vanessa wrote on her blog, See Vanessa Craft, that this recipe was one of her favorites to make for her family's traditional "Wing Wednesdays." She wrote, "I’ll make a batch of naked (minus the sauce) wings for the kids and it’s one of our favorite meals (and Whole 30 approved if you use compliant sauce). ... This recipe is simple, only 3 ingredients, but that’s how we like our wings around here. Oh and don’t skip the broiling if you like crispy wings!"
Here's how you can make it for your family — crispiness and all.
Melt 1 tablespoon butter (clarified butter if you're following the Whole 30 regimen) in the microwave, and then mix into 1 cup hot sauce. Feel free to pick your favorite!
Put 2 pounds chicken wings into your crock pot, then toss the hot sauce mixture on top. You might want to use a utensil to mix the wings around so they're evenly coated.
Cover the crock pot and cook on Low for 6-8 hours, or until the wings are fully cooked. You can feel free to dig in now — or you can line up all the wings on a lined baking sheet.
Stick the sheet under the broiler for about 3 minutes to crisp the outsides.
Toss all the wings in another ¼ cup hot sauce, then serve with a side of ranch dressing.
