If you’re a frequent crafter, you’re probably familiar with a few key supplies such as the hot glue gun, popsicle sticks, or Mod Podge. It can seem like these materials only last a week before you realize you’ve reached the bottom of the barrel!
Carrie at Coupon Closet is a serious crafter who uses Mod Podge like crazy. She loves that it’s easy to work with, but as she got down to her last bottle of Mod Podge, she decided it was taking a toll on her wallet.
So she cut down the cost from $9 to $1 with her homemade Mod Podge. Like she said, “You really can’t get much cheaper than this.”
There are only TWO ingredients necessary for this homemade Mod Podge.
Buy one bottle of washable glue at the local dollar store. And if it’s back to school season, you’ll be able to score these for even less than a dollar!
In a half pint mason jar, Carrie pours the whole bottle of glue into the jar. Take 1/3 cup of water and pour it on top of the glue.
Replace the lid on your mason jar and be sure to screw it in tightly. Shake the jar for a good minute.
This mixes the water and glue together to create the homemade Mod Podge. Now you’re ready to get crafting with your cheap and easy alternative to Mod Podge!
If you need your Mod Podge to be thicker, just add less water.
